Weekend Fun ~ 11.24.2013 + OOAKS Giveaway Winner!

Hello Monday! Although it is only late November, we already have snow on the ground and the -15C surely makes it feels a lot like mid-February.  I hope the temperature will warm up a little or else it will be a really long winter this year!  While a blizzard was at high gear outside, Chris and I were busy mapping out the interiors at #ProjectChris.  Our attention was at the den on the weekend.

I dream of a den/ dining room with a symmetrical layout equipped  with seating in the middle + a sensational backdrop, a statement chandelier to grace the space with style and light, and most importantly: practical storage.  Here are three beautiful inspirations that sold the idea to Chris.  Yes this German needs to see it before he believes it.  #ToughestClientYet!!

Here is an updated board for the den.  I also spotted a glorious custom storage piece while visiting Tim (a.k.a. furniture miracle god), so that maybe in the cards as well.  I am determined to build the bench with pieces from the AS-IS section at IKEA to keep budget low, so I can splurge on items like a pair of vintage faux bamboo sconces and this lovely wallpaper from Sandbergs wallpaper.

Since Chris and I will be busy traveling over the next month or so, I figured I should get some custom orders in before I leave so the pieces will be ready in January when we come home.  Here is a headboard we are making for the bedroom, and of course I have to use a Sarah's fabric from Kravet! Thanks Susan of Fine Interiors for making it a reality!

I have also decided to put a touch of nature in the kitchen.  My first thought was to clad barn boards on the exterior sides of the island … and then I saw these birch stunners at Gus*.  Now what do I do? This master piece by Richard Ahnert had me going back for more.  I will have to check out his 2014 collection early next year!  HomeSense was also good to me on the weekend as I spotted a solid faux bamboo bar cart and this masculine tray with pony fur, creamy leather trims, and polished nickel studs as embellishment.

Things are progressing nicely in the decorating department and just as things are looking bright and cheerful, we encountered our first problem.  See the alignment of the trio in the bathroom? A little off isn't it? Well, we discovered that during the pre-delivery inspection.  The builder and plumber are now accessing the situation and if the items will need to be removed and re-installed, I am so asking them to instead this super sleek and sexy ODIN collection from Brizo! #FingersCrossed
